There is no longer a Napier Hospital. All services are run from the Hawkes Bay Hospital in nearby Hastings.
Napier Hospital used to be located on Hospital Hill in Napier. However the late 1990's saw some amalgamation of local services with sister city, Hastings. Both Napier and Hastings are of similar size but are very close to each other.
Some saw that it would make sense to combine both hospitals on one location, so the larger Hastings site was chosen with much opposition from Napier residents. The hospital held a lot of history, being just the fourth hospital built in New Zealand. Nowadays there is no longer a Napier Hospital, but Napier residents still get access to full hospital and clinical services, at short ride away in Hastings.
